Age: 41
Occupation: Teacher, Triathlon Coach, News Editor - Triathlon Magazine Canada, Editor - MultiSport Canada Newsletter & Podcast
Home: Markham for 32 years
About me: Read Triathlon Magazine Canada, race with MultiSport Canada, visit MySportsShooter.com, and Ironman.com
Sports: Triathlon, Duathlon, Adv. Racing, Running, Road & Mountain biking, Tennis, Hockey, Badminton, Golf (real and the Tiger Woods version on XBOX 360).
Athletic Accomplishments: 15 Ironman Finishes, raced over 200 duathlon & triathlons, played University Tennis and Badminton, played against former World #1 - Ivan Lendl, High School Athlete of the Year, ate 17 slices of pizza in one sitting.
Athletic goals: Race safe, smart and successfully in 2010. After rupturing my left Achilles Tendon (May 29, 2008), missing a year, and going through rehab, I appreciate every race and training session much more than I did before. As with last year, I will race as many times as I can fit in - but maybe cutting back on those twice in one day races......maybe.
My most catastrophic racing experience was: No such thing for me. Although my 3 flats at Bracebridge (2009) could be a candidate. I am just thankful to be out there doing what I love. It's all good.
My most memorable racing experience was: All of 2009. After missing the 2008 race season thanks to an Achilles rupture (playing tennis) and subsequent surgery, I raced as much as I could in 2009 and loved every second of it. It will be more of the same going forward in 2010 and beyond.
Favourite footwear, clothing, or equipment: Running Free team apparel, Litespeed Bikes, Mizuno Shoes & Gear (Elixir & Nirvana), Pyro Pedal Platforms, Garmin 310xt, Headblade, and my TP Massage Ball Kit to keep injuries at bay.
Favourite race: IMLP, Iron 226, and any MultiSport Canada Race
Favourite race food: Peets or Tim Horton's coffee in the morning, Boost (race morning), Infinit (custom formulation), Acid Zapper, Ice cold coke, chicken broth, and Sport Beans or Nerds late into the Ironman run.
