Great work John. Looking forward to your stage 3-7... I mean stage 3-8 reports ;)
Those switchbacks on Day 1 were brutal; what an intro to the race! It's pretty rare that you look forward to the end of a descent but when it's that steep and I was endo-ing on every other turn... good times!

Rog/Mike: 60-70% of course is on gravel roads/ATV trails which made for fast riding in packs. Each though there was at least one big climb and a harrowing descent and multiple river crossings. It was cool to feel like a "tour" rider or sorts: eat, ride, sleep, shower - repeat for 7 days. If you are a good road rider and a decent MTBer you will do ok. Stay tuned for more race reports of the rest of the stages.

Man...another challenging race that I would love to try and do (of course I need to sell the wife on it first). Congrats buddy, you are one crazy dude...

A buddy of mine is trying to get me to do this next year.
In my mind I pictured it being tough but your report confirmed that and multiplied the difficulty one hundredfold.
I can safely say that I'll never do this race.
You are the man (and Bill too).
