Thanks for the advice Syd. I know that I have alot of training ahead of me. But I'm not getting any younger, so I decided that if I wanted to do an Ironman, I had better do it soon.
Congratulations again on a great race!

Thanks Karen!
That would be the adrenaline. The last 4km were a lot easier than the 10 km preceding them!!

I love the compression socks. Apparently they are best when you use them on the bike and run. The were great on the bike, especially when it was cold early in the morning. I put them on in T1 and they went on quick (practiced!)
I had very little swelling in my lower legs and feet this year as a result ( i don't know what performance benefit there was, but it definetely didn't hurt!)
The biggest benefit for me was that the extra achilles support in my CEP socks meant that my achilles tendonitis didn't bother me at all during the race, and more impressively I didn't feel anything the morning after!

PCB is a fantastic venue for a race. I am not doing an IM next year because I am a bit burnt out from all of the training. I have a need to do things well, I can't just do the minimum. So IM becomes pretty all consuming!

It is a great accessible course. All I have to say is practice staying aero on your bike for 4-5hrs at a time. This is the key to a strong bike section in Florida. No hills so your body needs to be used to staying in the aero bars.

Nice race Syd! You looked very strong at the end. I was actually there near Alvins Island when you were finishing. I am interested to hear about your compression socks. Did you wear them on the bike or just on the run? I volunteered at the swim in the morning & at the finish line from 6-9pm. I was there to sign up for the 2009 race. Hopefully, I can have half the race that you did. Congrats on a great race!
