Lindsay Milk Run 2013

This was the first year running the Lindsay Milk Run for me. There were a lot more runners than I anticipated for a small town race and quickly realized it was because it was a well organized, fun, family event with the wonderful prize of what seemed to be unlimited ice cream at the end!  The registration was organized, spacious and seamless; in the Lindsay Recreational Complex with great washroom facilities (bonus!) and a great place to meet friends and other runners. I met up with some fellow Running Free athletes who ran the 10km race; however, I chose to run the 5km race with three other runners; one of which was running her first ever race. For me it was a test of my strength and endurance after illness. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere alone was enough to get me through the race.  The course ran through a quiet residential neighbourhood, with water stations set up and plenty of volunteers. Of course there were many local residents on site to cheer us on too. The 5km runners finished with the 10km runners, which made for a an inspiring finish with plenty of cheering. The food and entertainment at the end was great. If ice cream wasn’t your thing, there were bagels with cream cheese amongst other post-race goodies. I finished the race with a smile on my face and happy to  back running. A great to race to get back track.
