|
|
|
I haven't done one of these for a while so here goes.
The challenge - cycle each and every day in November.
To make it participant friendly, let's make any bike ride of at least 15 minutes count.
And, in case you can't ride every day, here are some levels to shoot for.
Award levels:
Diamond: 30 Rides in 30 Days
Platinum: 29 Rides in 30 Days
Gold: 28 Rides in 30 days
Silver: 27-26 Rides in 30 days
Bronze: 25-24 Rides in 31 days
Who is in?
Obviously I am.
We usually have a lot of watchers, and those who participate incognito, but if you are playing along, it would be great if you could post an update once each week.
Let the games begin.

Hi Roger,
I would love to but have a torn meniscus so won't be riding or running for a little while.

Heal up and come back strong. Lots of cools events to do in 2010.

I'm in man. Be nice to get some time on the cyclocross bike anyway.
So far I'm not doing so great as I've only gotten two rides in, but they were 1 hour+ each.
Man, where'd my legs go? The season didn't end all that long ago did it? _________________ Mark Cairns

I know what you mean.
30 minutes on the bike right now feels like an eternity for me.
Did you get a chance to check out the UCI Cyclocross event a few weeks ago in Centennial Park?

No man... I had full intentions of trying some cyclocross out this fall, but my wife gave birth to my second child (need I say more?).
I was out today for a nice ride which was nice... and needed, both myself and my dog have developed big arse guts! _________________ Mark Cairns

| That's why I gotta do this. There is some nice gut development thanks to 2 months of relative inactivity, 2 beer miles, etc.

That's why it is a "challenge." Easier for me since I don't have 2 kids to worry about.
Keep it going dude.

LOL Mark - I love your biking blog.
I think I can swim every weekday in a given month if anyone's ever up for that challenge in the future. Having to do 1 sport everyday really cuts out other cross training activities though _________________ ~ What legacy do you want to leave behind? ~

I've been slacking in the update department, but not such much in the biking part of it.
Nov. 1 – 55 min (outside)
2 – 1 hr 20 min.
3 – 30 min.
4 – 1 hr 2 min.
5 – 30 min.
6 – 42 min.
7 – 22 min.
8 – 1 hr 16 min. (outside and it felt great)
9 – 1 hr 30 min (taught spin class)
10 – 26 min (155-175 watts)
11 – 32 min (150-160w)
12 – 40 min (175w)
13 – 30 min (160w)
14 – 44 min (170w)
15 – 20 min (160-200w)
16 – 1 hr 30 min (taught spin)
17 – 2 hrs (180-190w)
18 – 30 min (160w)
19 – 48 min (175w)
20 – 44 min (10 x 2min @ 220w)
21 – 1 hr (160-170w)
22 – 33 min (155-175w)
23 – 1 hr 30 min (taught spin)
* I would add some clever comments but I don't want to steal Mark's thunder. I will say that the shows: Californication and Bored to Death got me through a ton of these rides.
Shamus - I've got something coming. Nothing extreme but more of something to keep everyone consistent.
Jade - swiming everyday is certainly possible but hard to do unless you have an endless pool or want to deal with community lane swims. I did the lane swim thing once and will never do it again. The Markham Masters (2-3x per week) is my refuge and escape from that. And please don't think I am doing or asking people to do just one sport each day only. I definitely run, swim, and whatever else on top of the biking. Many times the biking works as a great warmup or cooldown.
