Mizuno Breath Thermo 1/2 Zip

I’ve been itching to write about the Mizuno Breath Thermo ½ Zip for a while, and now is the perfect time since Running Free has it in the store right now. Actually, there are quite a few Mizuno apparel pieces in stock right now and all real cool but I’ll start with this one.

If you haven’t experienced the Breath Thermo technology let me explain what it is all about. The fabric absorbs the sweat you generate and “magically” uses that moisture to make the garment warmer. Don’t ask me how; I just know that it happens. So in the case of the ½ Zip, it allows you to maintain your core body temperature in colder conditions, and eliminates the need for an extra layer due to the heat being generated by the garment.

I’ve used the ½ Zip as a base layer for winter running, but it works perfectly for spring races or training where you want just one layer (I throw on the Running Free vest on top to dress things up a bit). The rear zipper pocket is perfect for packing away keys, gels or an mp3 player. I’ve worn this for races like Around the Bay and the Mississauga Half and will wear it again unless there is a heat wave. If you do get too hot, the ½ zip at the front allows you to cool off by zipping it all the way down.

Mizuno has specifically designed this piece for running (Dynamic Function Cut) therefore movement does not feel bunched up or restricted at any time. It has reflective features on the front and back, and allows you to comfortably hang out with your pals without that post-race/workout stink due to the anti-bacterial and deodorizing functions in the fabric.

After first trying this technology I became a huge fan and felt I should spread the word. I use the Breath Thermo Running Mock as a base layer as well, and for my spring or late fall golf outings. They are both very versatile apparel pieces and a must add to your workout gear closet.
