As part of the Team Running Free lottery, I picked up a pair of low cushion Superfeet insoles. These insoles are a great place to start if you have flat feet, under or over-pronated feet and are looking for arch support, but not willing to spend a lot of money on them. Eventually it may be a better idea to get customized insoles but to start with these are a good option. They come in a variety of cushioning low, medium and high cushioning. The staff at Running Free are also really helpful in helping you decide what you need. I chose to go with the low cushioning because the shoes I run had enough cushioning and I did not need that much more. They come in a good length as you can cut them to your shoe size and not compromise on the arch support.
I put them into a pair of On Cloud running shoes that I have been a bit disappointed in. I felt the shoe did not have enough cushioning and it felt bare so I thought with the insoles maybe it would be a little better. Perhaps I chose the low cushioning insoles, but I must say it didn’t add that much more to the shoes and I’m still disappointed in the shoes itself. There is a deep heel cut so I felt like my heel was supported and in place when I ran. I don’t find my other running shoes (Brooks, Asics, New Balances, Nikes) need more cushioning so I have not had to use them in other shoes. I play Ultimate Frisbee as well and found that these supports helped me a lot. Playing on turf can give me some heel pain after the game and these were a game-changer! I’ll definitely be using these more often in my cleats. I highly recommend these, depending on the shoe you may need more with higher cushioning.
