As someone who comfortably sits in the “average-paced runner” camp—and loves day to day runs as much as tackling half marathon distances—finding a shoe that truly delivers comfort on those training days is essential. I’m not chasing crazy speed goals, but I do need protection and reliability when I’m pushing my distance limits. The Glycerin 22’s have quickly become my go-to for exactly this purpose. I was fortunate to be able to try a pair via the Team Running Free lottery, and am happy to share my thoughts about them. You can find them on Running Free here: Brooks Glycerin 22 Women’s White/Grey/Black – Running Free Canada
First of all, I love the cushioning: it’s plush enough to absorb the impact when my legs are getting tired, but it’s not so squishy that I feel like I’m sinking into the pavement. I still get a responsive feel that helps me transition smoothly to my next stride, which is key when you’re trying to maintain your effort over longer stretches.
The upper is also incredibly comfortable—it feels supportive yet breathable, even on warm days. It also runs lighter than I expected, meaning I don’t feel like I’m lugging extra weight.
If your running goals involve cruising through daily km’s and having a dependable, high-comfort workhorse for half marathon training, the Glycerin 22 is an absolute winner. It’s the shoe I trust to keep my feet happy and protected, allowing me to focus on the distance, not the discomfort.
One quick note: if you opt for one of the beautiful light or white colorways, be prepared for them to show dirt and mud quickly—it just proves you’re putting in the work 🙂
