New Balance Fuelcell Rebel V4

I have only been a runner for about 6 years and in those 6 years I don’t usually look too hard for running shoes. I’m not the type of person to buy expensive running shoes, and although I won’t go for just any type of running shoe, I’ll usually go for reliable brands such as Saucony, Asics and Brooks. This year I decided to look for better shoes and spend a little more money on them.

I didn’t spend too long looking for shoes, something on sale and reputable were my requirements. I went to Running Free and picked up a pair of New Balance FuelCell Rebel v4s. My sister-in-law had said her friend highly recommended the FuelCell Rebels and I thought, why not splurge a bit before my birthday and give them a try now?  The price point was great and the service at Running Free couldn’t be beat…I had to buy them here.

These shoes are designed to be lightweight and fast, with a more streamlined lighter mesh upper body. Everything about it is lightweight and I was worried they would be too lightweight and not provide enough medial ankle support.  I wore them around them the house, did a bit more research (yes a bit backwards) and thought I might return them b/c they seemed too lightweight, the material too thin and might wear out too soon.  But my husband convinced them to give it a try – by the time the shoes would be worn out I would have put the mileage needed to retire the shoes and I wouldn’t know if the shoes were good for running if in fact, I didn’t run in them. Am I glad I listened to him! They are speedy and lightweight and after running in 12KMs in them I feel like I can sprint at the end and still finish well. My feet weren’t overly tired or sore, I didn’t feel the usual soreness in my heel after a long run and more importantly I don’t wake up feeling an achiness in legs that I can after a long run. I still don’t want to spend too much on shoes, but spending more on shoes DOES make a difference!! Try out these Fuelcell Rebel shoes!
