In this year’s lottery, I decided to try and win the SAXX products since I had enjoyed a positive experience with the one pair of SAXX underwear I had worn in the past and quite honestly, who doesn’t want to wear comfortable underwear!
I chose two SAXX products: The Multi-sport Mesh Gridiron Check / Multi and the SAXX Vibe Xtra Soft Comfort. Right from the start I really appreciated the variety of options available as I had the option of choosing either colourful and fun underwear as in the Multi-sport Mesh Gridiron (because who wouldn’t want a bunch of colourfully patterned footballs on their underwear!) or something more subtle as I chose with the Vibe Xtra Soft Comfort, for which I chose the understated grey colour.
With regards to the quality of the products, I have worn both for easy runs of 5-7km, interval workouts and longer runs ranging from 14-16km. Both felt very comfortable with no chafing regardless of the type of run workout I was participating in, and I appreciated their patented Ballpark Pouch. The softness of the SAXX underwear further increasing my comfort. I also did not have to worry about them slipping down at the waist as they remained snug and firm. Similarly, they did not ride up like other boxer products may be prone to, leading to further comfort during my runs. While I understand some people may aesthetically not want underwear this firmly fitting, I appreciated it, since comfort is my main priority when running. I would recommend if wearing the Multi-sport Mesh Gridiron underwear, be sure not to wear shorts that are too short, since it was embarrassing, due their length, of having the bottom of the underwear showing during one workout in which I made this mistake at my running club. The Vibe Xtra Soft Comfort underwear, being shorter, did not have this issue.
Another benefit of the underwear was that I did not have to worry about feeling discomfort in different weather as they breathed easily during hot weather but also left me feeling comfortable in colder weather. They also did not become too sweaty during the longer workouts like other underwear products may be prone to do, which was another bonus. As is described on the Running Free website, the underwear products have the benefits of one-way moisture wicking, being odor-resistant and quick dry. Both pairs of SAXX underwear ranged from $30 – 40, more costly when compared to non-performance products from competitors, but the comfort and quality of the material and the benefits to runners during their workouts make them and other SAXX products worth the investment.
