Ride to Conquer Cancer

This past weekend I rode in the Ride to Conquer Cancer. It was the most amazing and inspiring experience I have had in my life so far, I loved every moment. The weekend was full of tears, laughter, and smiles. I liked it so much I have already registered for next year’s event. This year was the first time the ride has taken place. The ride raises money for the Princess Margaret Hospital and 100% of the proceeds go to Cancer research. Each rider is required to raise $2,500. All together this year 2800 riders raised 14million dollars!!!

The actual ride starts at the Direct Energy Center down town Toronto on Day one and you ride to Ancaster which is 103km. You camp out with thousands of other people and celebrate. On day two you ride from Ancaster to Niagara Falls and finish right at the falls. (107km) It’s amazing I encourage you to register of volunteer for next years event. Swiss Chalet sponsors the event so all your food is taken care of, there are pit stops along the way and lunch stops. If you are interested and want more information visit conquercancer.ca

  • Hey Kerrie-Ann,
I have a few friends that rode this particular event and loved it as well.
It’s such a good cause, and a great accomplishment by all 2800 riders.

    Kudos to you.
    Mark.

  • I also rode it and had a good time with my friends – all of us there for personal reasons which made it all that more powerful. The course was ok – day 1 went through some old stomping grounds in Dundas – Syndenham Rd a wicked 6% gradient descent from the top of the escarpment and then back up Wilson St to Ancaster. Day 2 was super flat -managed to hitch a ride with some folks from Clarkson Cycle in Thorold. We were pulling 40+km/h – super fun. Special thx to the 25+ donors who helped me raise $3500 and also to my uncle johnny who is a survivor, and continues to inspire me in many ways.
