Mizuno Wave Elixir 5 – Lightweight, Stable & Flashy Looking!!

elixir-5.jpg

Looking for a lighter shoe for speedwork days or maybe a light race day shoe that will give more cushioning and support than a racing flat? Well look no further as Mizuno has the Elixir 5 waiting at Running Free for you to buy right now.

As a race day shoe it has just the right amount of flash to make the other guys and gals in the starting corrals take notice of you. And since you’d likely be dropping a few ounces in these compared to your everyday training shoes, you’ll likely back up the flash with a really good time to boot.

The nice thing about the Elixir5 is that it will give you a fair bit more cushioning and support (for those who pronate which is probably 90+% of runners) than a traditional racing flat. But it still tips the scales a fair bit lighter than an everyday trainer at a mere 9.4 ounces for the men’s model.

Ladies Elixir5

And yes ladies, the other great thing about the Elixir 5‘s, they are available in woman specific sizing in a very hot, pink colour!!

I have personally worn these (the mens model of course) on many speedwork training runs as well as this year’s Grimsby half marathon and they were very nice. They are a lower to the ground feel than most shoes but this is ideal for speedwork and racing as it really gives you a good feel of the ground. They even use the same minimalist design carbon forefoot outsole of the Musha and Ronin2, which are the Mizuno racing flats. For my review of the Ronin2 go to this link: Mike’s Ronin2 Review.

If you’re considering something a little faster or just looking for a change give the Elixir5 a try, but don’t forget to print off the coupon below to take advantage of a $5 discount on these or anything in a Running Free store or online that’s $50 or more:
