Mizuno Wave Rider 13 – This 13 is Lucky for Sure!!

rider-13.jpgrider-13-ladies.jpg

Everyone needs a little tenderness sometimes, and runners are no exception to this. Especially on those long runs, during those long training weeks and most importantly the day after a particularly hard training session when the tootsies are a little extra tender. The latter was my main reason for getting a pair as the cushioning in the Rider 13 is astounding, especially when you consider that the men’s model tips the scale at a scant 10.5 ounces.

Don’t let the light weight fool you though, as they have very good cushioning with a small amount of stability. As these are a neutral shoe, they are not designed for over-pronation support. If you read up on Mizuno’s Wave cushioning system on their site you will find that the Wave plate actually offers some pronation control in all plate models. So they will give a small amount of support.

But let’s go back to the topic of cushioning ’cause all runners like some amount of pillowy feel, especially under the balls of the feet. Let’s face it, if you take a look at the sole of most runner’s (especially ultra, full and half marathoners), they look as though they’ve been through hell and back. In most cases they kinda’ have been.

One thing that I really like about these is they still have that Mizuno-typical slightly lower to the ground feel than most brands out there. Personally I just like that as I seem to get more feedback from my body. Maybe it’s just me (but I doubt it).
