Fox River Socks

What seems to be a continually “try-out” relationship is never an easy task when it comes to finding that perfect sock for all conditions. There are so many sock choices for Running/Athletics; from Fox River to Smart Wool to Icebreaker (which are all fantastic brands). On a personal level, for a guy, I have chick feet! I blister – easily. Finding the ideal sock to minimize this problem was definitely a chore in its own. I didn’t know if it was my shoes or simply just a condition I was pleasantly blessed with… until I ended up trying out the Fox River brand. Fox River is a United States founded company and offer a vast variety of socks – in fact, its what they specialize in.

I’ve tried out a few of the Fox River socks, men’s Velocity, and even (hush-hush) the women’s Acceleration’s. But, Im a sock lover. Anything to keep the base of my body warm and feeling cozy is a win on my end! Regardless though, its hard to compare a sock to a sock.

Personally, I find the Ultra Light Velocity’s to be my favourite. Fox River says these socks provide a “barefoot-feel,” and I don’t think they could have described it any other way. These socks are so light, you barely feel you are wearing any. The most hated feeling when running is feeling a seam in your sock or your feet getting too hot. These socks are comfortable, fitted and are set with Fox Rivers patented “Wick Dry Health System,” which keep your feet dry on those hotter days. Honestly, there isn’t much of a different between the Ultra Light and the Standard Velocity sock, but I’m sure you too would find your own preference between the two.

I don’t want to misconstrue anyone – I can’t say my blisters have definitely disappeared, but wearing socks that fit me properly has certainly eased the amount and degree of those blasted bubbles.

  • 20 Valley Half. Worst blisters ever. Same shoes. Same socks. The main difference was the heat and very sweaty feet, likely expanded half a size due to the heat.

If you constantly suffer from blisters, have a look at your shoe choices and sizing. It might be worth while finding a model that fits a touch wider, or longer, depending where your blisters are forming.
