GU Gels ~ Pack A Punch!

I won the lottery! $55 worth of GU products!

I’ve been taking GU and only GU ever since I started Triathlon 3.5 years ago! I love the stuff!

I decided to go with some different flavors of the GU Gels and test them out while in some hardcore training for my Half Ironman this year. Most people have issues with citrus flavors, but they sit well with me and I’ve never really had an issue with them. My all-time favorites are Espresso Love and Tri-Berry.
I was able to use the GU products to fuel my training, and my races. The GU gels don’t get runny in the heat unlike some other brands of gels. Gu gels are great, and I would really recommend you give them a chance if you haven’t already. Not only do they taste great and fuel your training and racing needs, but they are extremely affordable.

During Muskoka Half Ironman, I took along with me the GU Tri-Berry flavor gels, 6 to be exact. My plan was to take 1 before and after the swim, 2 while on the bike and 2 more during the run. I stuck to my plan and followed through the entire race. I was successful. No gut rot, no discomfort feeling at all. I felt great the whole time and I always felt full of energy. I also use the Blueberry Pomegranate electrolyte mix. This stuff works wonders as well, and I think that by combining the two products together when I train and race has done amazing things. The Pomegranate and Tri-berry are obviously both citrusy flavors but they both taste phenomenal.

During the Chilly Half Marathon, I decided that 3 gels would be enough for the 1hr and 45-ish min run I had ahead of me. And again, I was right. The gels kept me slogging through the race even after severely spraining my ankle 2.5km into the run. I kept my 2 Fuel Belt Bottles full of the Gu Pomegranate electrolyte mix and used 3 Espresso Love flavored Gels. The combination of espresso and citrus has no side effects on me. I’v never experienced Gut rot with any of the GU products.

With all that being said, I love Gu products. I wouldn’t train or race with any other products but these. If you haven’t yet tried this brand of nutrition, I suggest you give it a try. I assure you that you won’t be disappointed.

Thanks again to RunningFree for the lottery win and free stuff! Keep it coming, I love it!
