I decided to try the Hyperion Max 3 as a high-cushion option for tempo workouts. I was also intrigued by the non-carbon plate as a more affordable option than the traditional “super shoe”. The immediate feel was supportive and comfortable. It felt like an “easy day” show with firm cushioning, with a little extra “pop”. I have been using the shoe as I progressively increase my mileage toward my next marathon and feel a little less fatigue in the feet. I also find that it is less stressful on the calf muscles than using a super shoe for the tempo workouts. The fit is true to size with a reasonable toe box size (I usually wear the standard width shoe, but cannot wear a shoe with a more narrow toe box). They feels quite durable, but if you care about a stain resistant colour, avoid the white option (I went with the gold). The only downside, is that the tongue is quite thin with fairly thick laces and so if you tie the laces a little too tight, it can be uncomfortable on the top of the foot.
Summary: Excellent tempo shoe with good support and comfort. Better price than a carbon-plated option.
