What a day for a race!

That’s the first thing I thought as I looked out the front door early in the a.m of March 29th.Wet, windy and cold.Reminded me instantly of Boston 2007.Unfortunately this day would not mirror that one as the rain kept up the entire time I was on course.

The goal this year was to go sub 2 hours, just 37 seconds faster than last year, and finally receive the gold finishers medal.Though I had been felled with a 72 hr stomach virus two weeks prior,I felt pretty good. The conditions,of course, were not co-operating at all though. This was gonna be fun!

Started off good, but my kilometre splits were growing increasingly slower as the race progressed,so gel time became 12k and not the anticipated 15-20k mark. This was a good call on my part as the GU worked it’s magic and I began feeling stronger as I hit the rollers between 17 and 22k.I was still close to my goal finishing time but the hill at 26k would prove to be my nemesis once again and I finished in 2:00:46.Always the bridesmaid…

Still,it was an enjoyable race experience and so very nice to finish indoors at Copps Coliseum out of the rain.Had the chance to have my photo taken by the race photographer with fellow Team RF athletes Mike Bosch and Larry Bradley, and we all look like one happy group to be finished!

Maybe next year,I’ll certainly be back to give it another shot.

Cheers.

ps Apologies for the late posting, computer problems!
