Fall Fair Classic 5k – Orangeville

I ran in the Fall Fair Classic (Sept.4) for my the second time.  Last year it was windy cold and rainy and I wanted to redeem myself for a disappointing time.  Well this year was very hot and sunny so a better time was not to be.  This is a great race as the course offers some road, dirt road, trail and some hills.  There are some rolling hills for the last 1k and it really takes a lot out of the runners but it is fun!  There is a nice mix of competitive runners and those out for a fun run or to support the two local charities; family transition place and Friends of island lake

I think this race is well organized and marked very good.  There was a water station offering water and e load at the halfway point.  I think this race offers great value.  For $30 you get a great kit that consists of a custom logo’d cinch backpack with 3 e load gels, some kernels popcorn, a chance at some great draw prizes and medals/prizes for top 3 overall as well as medals for age groups.  Your race bib also offers you free entry into the fall fair where there may or may not have been some beers consumed at the “runners” table in the beer tent.

Approximately 100 runners had a great “last day of summer” with many Orangeville Running Free team members getting on the podium including first place overall by Alexander Maycock in a time of 19:03.
