Can You Ever Have Too Much Salomon Gear?

This is not a test and not a trick question! The answer is obvious! NO! Bring on more gear!

Technical shirts, Jackets for all seasons, Thermal Running Tights, Hats, Trail Shoes, Race Packs, Socks, Gloves, the list goes on & on!

I know a certain someone who claims to be a Salomon Junkie and maybe even their biggest fan as I don’t know anyone who has more matching outfits and a massive (still growing) list of gear!…however… I think deep down everyone can’t get enough Salomon! & my growing Salomon gear closet is starting to compete! One of my very favourite items is my first AR Race Pack-Vest – the 15L which I covet and it has taken quite a beating & racked up some serious mileage over the last year+ and still going strong (Check out the current Women’s Salomon Packvest here) However, this year I changed gears from a more “self-supportive” race format (where you needed to carry more mandatory items and more water over longer distances which the pack is perfect for!) to a few ultras that had shorter distances between aid’s which allowed me to travel lighter!

My newest Salomon purchase(s) included the Hydro 45 Waist Belt. To this I added the Salomon Custom Zipped Pocket  perfect for gels and essentials you may need on the trail. Everything from salt, gels, headlamp, TP & Lip balm I can tuck in there! I tested the belt a few weeks ago at the Rattlesnake 50K Trail Race in West Virginia with Denise (race report coming soon!) I was hesSalomon Custom Zipped Pocket <br>Detroit by Salomon Style 100007 S9itant at first as I have always tried to be self sufficient, however the light weight and getting a pack off my back was liberating and the belt was extremely comfy – it didn’t bounce much and I hardly noticed it was there until I needed to get into it for a gel! This trail race had 10 climbs and there was an aid before each climb and then a fun descent – I used the 650ml bottle that came with the belt and it was perfect and provided enough hydration to the next aid where I could quickly fill up and keep moving. I always wondered how Ultra Trail runners can go 100miles in some races with just belts or handhelds, but now the fear of running out is no longer there – as long as you know your distances between aid’s and are well prepared with the knowledge of the course in advance, you can’t go wrong with the Hydro 45 & Pocket!
