Brooks Glycerin 8s

I am a Glycerin kind of girl.  I have worn the 5s, 6s and 7s.  After I had my last baby I decided to try something different and went with a neutral shoe by a manufacturer who shall remain nameless.  These shoes never felt right (like wooden planks strapped to my feet) and I ended up with extensor tendonitis.  This little experiment sent me straight back to Running Free to pick up a pair of Glycerin 8s, which ironically enough, were fresh from the loading bay that morning.

I have extraordinarily high arches and to avoid future problems with tendonitis (or worse) I was fitted with custom orthotics.  The pedorthist indicated that the Glycerins were an ideal shoe for a runner like me needing a neutral platform and good cushioning.

All I can say is that slipping on the 8s was like reuniting with an old friend…with a new haircut.  The fabled cushioning is now new and improved with the Brooks DNA technology.  This innovative cushioning material responds differently depending on running speed and runner size.  The shoes also have BioMogo which is a biodegradable midsole for running shoes.  Cool!  If you want more details and technical specifications, go here.

Needless to say, I am happy with the 8s.  I have had problem free running since the spring.  From an aesthetic point of view, I love the purple of the women’s shoe.  With the addition of elastic laces, they are easy to get in and out of in transition, yet slippage is kept to a minimum while running.  These sturdy shoes are expensive but worth every penny as they not only keep my feet (and knees and hips and back…) happy but seem to last longer than many other brands.   Looking forward to the 9s!
